And why do you go to movies with this person?
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Avatar (the one with the blue aliens) is such a weird franchise13·9 days agoAvatar didn’t come out of nowhere at all. It is made by one of the most beloved and successful film makers in history. The hype leading up to that movie was off the charts.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•When it comes to food, my dog is like a tow truck driver.11·9 days agoOMFG yes.
I once made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, set it down on my coffee table to grab my remote and my dog had the whole thing in his mouth in less than a nano-second.
Our eyes met and he froze, and then put it back on the plate. At that point it was his but I did not want the poor bugger to choke so I broke up and gave it to him.
I loved that dog but he was a garage can.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The more you earn, the larger the timespan for which you know your salary6·10 days agohmm. I know the exact number of my salary as that is how I do finances month to month.
Now when it comes to total earnings that is a bit vague for me as I only tally that when I do my annual tax filings.
I think you are correct OP.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We all sleep alone soundly; Maybe the key to a happy marriage is separate beds6·16 days agoI agree. My wife and I fought against separate beds for a long time, but some things went down that required us to have alternate sleep schedules so that forced us to do it.
That was 12 years ago and we have had separate bedrooms ever since.
We have since learned that pretty much all of our friends who have been married for significant number of years sleep in separate beds. Sleeping is such an important part of living and a huge impact on QoL. So once you accept that quality sleep is a basic need and not a referendum on the state of the marriage it just solves a set of problems.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We all sleep alone soundly; Maybe the key to a happy marriage is separate beds1·16 days agoThis was my reaction at first but when I thought about it my perspective changed. Fatigued driving is really dangerous. Your response/reaction time is severely degraded as is your decision making ability.
Impaired driving isn’t just from being intoxicated.
It is similar to how people with seizures disorders can’t drive.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We all sleep alone soundly; Maybe the key to a happy marriage is separate beds3·17 days agoI didn’t really have any issues with the standard issue nose mask, what I did struggle with at first was the tube, but I hung a sheppad’s hook near my bed to keep the mask elevated away from me.
That allows me to toss and turn and not deal with the tube in my face.
I do have to admit, when I first started using it I had a lot of dreams about snakes.
My wife hasn’t had a panic attack since she started it
That is awesome! Talk about a great unplanned for benefit.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We all sleep alone soundly; Maybe the key to a happy marriage is separate beds12·17 days agoI too will testify to the power of the CPAP!
I was diagnosed with Sleep Apena and refused to use it.
I am not putting that stupid thing on my face at night.
Well when the MVA told me that if I didn’t show logs of usage I would loose my divers license i started.
It took one night to convince me it was the greatest thing ever, and I felt so stupid for not using it sooner.
My wife actually thought something was wrong because I was so “quiet” when I slept.
Sleep Apena is no bullshit and it is amazing how much it was dragging me down.
Oh yeah, I swear that two years ago Southwest had a total crash of their systems because they still had NT4 machines.
I wouldn’t do tape. If you don’t want a cloud option, why not use use a thumb drive?
If you are willing to do tape, you can store a thumb drive into same way.
People who are nostalgic for the 1950s are remembering episodes of Happy Days.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There's a lot of freedom at first as a soldier to realize that you could put down so much evil in the world until you realize you might actually be putting evil into the world.3·24 days agoNaw man as a soldier you will be told to do your tiny part of a tiny task. No kidding that part may just be, take that water tank over there and wait until told what to do.
IWW4@lemmy.zipto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•People angry that Superman represents kindness are outright admitting that they don't want to be good people3·26 days agoYeah it’s really wild
Oh hell yes and they wasn’t that long ago. When I was 16 (1980s) I was friends with a girl also 16, whose mother was 31 and her grandmother was mid 40s. Both the mom and grandmom gave birth at 15/16.
As an aside They were cool as can be and most of my circle of friends would hangout at her house
