They should look at Death Stranding for exploration based gameplay.
FromSoft is one of the best developers in the world. Unfortunately, they lag behind many other studios when it comes to software performance. This has been an ongoing issue for multiple decades.

The solution to this is a healthy PC gaming market but the hardware prices there are much more inflated than console hardware costs.
