Definitely thunder. I’ve been using it since it was in early alpha and it has improved so much and works really really well.

This makes me quite glad I have not used a Google Play service on my phone since 2019. I only use Lineage OS with no Google Play Services and in 2023, after not using my Google account for several years, I went ahead and pulled the plug and deleted it entirely.
I haven’t used stock Android since 2019.
Install lineage OS and do not use any kind of Google Apps package.
LineageOS 21 on my OnePlus Nord N200
That’s kind of what the extra notifications currently look like if you have a bunch of them already and you get the overflow. It’s somewhat looks like this in Android 14 and above.
Can’t be kicked off of Nostr and PayPal and other services can’t freeze Monero.
I’ll be honest, I read the link fully expecting to completely disagree with it, and actually I don’t. There’s actually a decent amount of it I do agree with. Bitcoin has evolved and not in a good way from what it was meant to be which was peer-to-peer digital cash that anybody could use to send money around the world in an instant with no government oversight. That’s actually the big reason that I’m interested in Monero, because it still fulfills that vision while providing user privacy and low fees. It does use proof of work mining, so uses electricity for that, but it is much better than Bitcoin simply because it uses your general CPU that you find in your phone, your desktop, your laptop, etc. and does not require specialized hardware that costs a ton of money and burns a crap ton of power to only mine.
You may or may not find my arguments above compelling, but I appreciate the link. Because, as I said, I expected to fully disagree with it and found more agreement than I expected to.
Nostr + monero = 🖕
Oh, I’m sorry you had that experience. I had the original pixel, and the pixel 3a, and had both of them unlocked. Oneplus is also pretty good about unlocking their boot loaders without too much hassle. So that might be something you might also consider. If you’re interested in running lineage OS, just look at the official website to see what one plus devices are supported before purchasing. I currently have the OnePlus Nord N200 5G Unlocked running lineage OS 21
I was able to get the unlock code from the Motorola website, but if this is a concern for you, I would recommend the Pixel A series instead. You’re going to have the best bet with bootloader unlocking on those devices.
And nobody will ever need more than 128 kilobytes of RAM.
Until quantum comes around for everybody because then it can be zero or one at the same time. And you don’t know until you observe it.
The one thing I would be excited to see from this would be the bigger batteries and therefore longer battery life. Because while current batteries are decent, I’m definitely not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Example: my phone has a 5000mAh battery I only charge to 80% so I only get 4000mAh out of it. The article mentioned a phone with 5700mAh and so 80% would be 4560mAh or 560mAh more than my current device.
I don’t have any hard numbers, but I keep my device between 80 and 30, and do not feel any kind of issues about my phone needing to be charged more frequently than normal, but I’ve only had it for about a year now.
Not that I’m aware of. I have not switched to passkeys yet for that exact reason, as I am waiting for them to be supported. And until then, I will just continue using long passwords.
You really shouldn’t be using a personal device for work purposes or a work device for personal purposes. So I would try to get your job to provide you a device to do work related stuff on rather than doing it yourself. Also, I ended up switching banks, not because my bank app didn’t run, but primarily because my bank would not allow me to do everything from the website that I could do in the app. And I do not want any Google Play apps at all on my device. And so I ended up switching banks for that purpose to one where I could use the online website for everything.
Personally, I’ve found that anything over 75 millimeters is a bit wide for my hand, and so I tried to keep my phone under 75 millimeters wide with a case included, so generally around 73 millimeters or so.
