After trying Watchstate and Ryot it depends on what you want. Do you just want an easy easy to backup/sync playstate between platforms? Watchstate. Do you need more? Not Watchstate.

If vobsub is image based (pretty sure it is) then it needs an OCR converter. Most streaming setups will burn the image based subs in. Honestly for 1080p and lower a modern cpu/gpu won’t miss a beat.

Iirc vobsub is not text so while you can add it to the container it will always require a transcode on plex/jelly/etc to burn in.

Oh I totally see how you CAN do it. I’ve done it. A lot. Just nowadays i don’t see why you would need to. Maybe a true 4k multi monitor setup but a 7800xt is cheap and great for 1440p and you can build a 1500 dollar rig (minus the monitor) and be pretty damn ok.

I tend to spend my money on homelab shit so my priorities have changed these pay few decades lol

If you buy something nowadays and it connects to the Internet, it’s bad. Treat it like it’s bad. VLAN it, firewall it, force it to use your DNS only and block everything until it breaks then figure out what it actually needs.

Yup. Proxmox passing through the igpu for the immich VM. All storage on the NAS over 10gbe.
