From my experience most smart people learned and played chess at some point but few get the point of memorizing stuff. Especially if they are not good memorizes. Its a great game to teach and play with kids as it does stimulate the mind with the way the pieces move and having to think about the changing board and next move. That being said I was not even aware of en passant until I met a guy in college who actually went to competitions. Heck I rarely could remember how to castle due to how rare it was to get into a position to do so. Really though any type of stimulating activity is helpful. Someone mentioned rubicks cubes and like suduko and crosswords and really any gaming. They all have limitations. I often say crosswords is more about knowing the crossword author than anything else. They all have favorites and biases in their puzzles.

yeah exactly what I was getting at. While we did not have good alternatives we kept allowing its use with regulation to make it as safe as possible but then as alternatives became available its usage was increasingly curtailed which is why it took so long to ban. Although just in time since I would not be surprised if todays health agencies recommended adding it to breakfast cereals.

At least using asbestos has some value. If we had not found alternatives we would still be using it. One reason measures were taken to improve safety in manufacturing rather than just banning from the get go was lack of alternatives. What im trying to say is pro-asbestos is not as coocoo crazy as anti vax and such.

Im one of those folks who rarely if ever remember dreams. If I have a great night of sleep it can feel like I did not sleep at all because it was like I had put my head down and then suddenly the alarm is going off and its the next morning. Don’t have to worry to much about that the older I get though.

I use zorin. I can use it right away after I install for most things and over time I have added a few things. I do find the gui software interface annoying (its an ubuntu spin so same as ubuntu) so either download the ubuntu option for things on the web so it is just like installing with windows or I do apt at the command line. Its good for running windows software but not necessarily gaming as it is by no means bleeding edge. So its all about stability and out of box usage that gives you an interface that is very windows like.
