When our kids got old enough my wife threw out the plastic, Ikea flower cups that the rest of us all loved. She wanted us to use more grown up cups. We now all drink exclusively from her mason jars.

As a Canadian I always forget to take the racist factor into account.

Canada has an independent electoral commision that sets electoral boundaries, mostly on geographic borders, like county lines. My electoral district, for example, is Leed, the Grenville, the Thousand Islands, and Rideau Lakes and encompases those four geographic districts. It can also be done by a computer using maximum n-sided polygons with equal populations.

Only in the United States. Canada solved the problem years ago.

If Trump loses there are the next two months of wondering how many people will die around the inauguration, then the next two years of wondering what the project 2027 people are going to do, then…

The only way to stop this is to fix the US system. Fix the courts. Fix the elections. Fix gerrymandering. Fix the right wing control of the media. Fix the lies from the “news”.

I write several flavours of BASIC fluently, Fortran and Pascal passably, three forms of assembler well enough to get by, and I’ve worked in COBOL.

We all have lives. I sometimes remember that I was discussing something with someone weeks later.

In the end my trans friends, LGBTQ friends, my lesbian daughter, and my son and daughter’s LGBTQ, non-binary, and trans friends and everyone who knows me knows that I’m not a transphobe. They know that I’m an ally. They know that they can count on me for support and that I will actively protect them.

Being labelled a transphobe by someone who doesn’t know me and obviously has rather extreme views is less than meaningless to me. I engaged in the coversation to try to help her to understand my position and that labelling anyone who wasn’t interested in having sex with her, no matter how much of an ally they really were, was counterproductive. I did my best. I’m going to keep doing my best to be an ally no matter how much people who demand thought perfection label me. That’s just who I am.

Your approach was and continues to be a complete failure. You can triple down and fail again or you can choose to try something different. Do you want to talk or do you want to walk away? Those are your only two options at this point.

Fanatics try to expand the meanings of words to make their message more inflammatory in an attempt to bully and shame people who don’t agree with them into doing what they want. It’s a standard play from the extremist playbook.

Dismissing the truth as pedantry doesn’t change the fact that it’s the truth. Your beliefs don’t change reality.

It’s in the definition. Murder is the killing of one human being by another. Vegan fanatics try to shame everyone else by calling it murder but it just makes me laugh. They try so very hard but just sound silly.

Murder is the killing of a human. You can’t murder a non-human.

I want to come back as bacon.

The first time we harvested one of our pigs we had a wake for him. We ate all kinds of delicious cuts and raised a toasted to him.

Sure it is.

I think we need another word. Transphobic suggests fear or hate. I neither fear not rate trans people as I’ve made clear multiple times. If I’m not interested in having sex with men am I androphobic? I’m just not interested in trans people sexually. I’m transdisinterested, not transphobic.

That was the point of my meme.

They’re trying to use it as a slur but it perfectly captures what I’m trying to say and that pisses them off.
