I use Firefox as my daily driver, Vivaldi for spicier stuff and the Edge for work. I don’t want any concentrated source having all my history. This is simple internet hygiene.

Many sites have done this over the years. It’s called a warrant canary because in the footer, they’d say “we don’t comply with law-enforcement requests” … then comes the warrant, and the wording is removed.
Fair point. There was actually an interesting loophole 15 years ago where calling my uncles in Zuerich (+41 1) made it a local information call and thus not charged for.
MS would have had no chance to kill it before buying it. Now, if Meta could just start killing products, the world would be a better place.
Are you seriously not using at least three browsers? Don’t concentrate your Web footprint.
Likely so. But even my 78-year-old mom got rid of her landline a few years ago. That’s a niche use case in 2025.
So long, and thanks for all the add-ons.
In seriousness, though, this doesn’t in any material way make Firefox a worse option than the other browsers with active dev teams. Avoiding Manifest V3 is alone worth the price of admission.
I tend to use Signal for international calls.
Ah, the Google approach.
I’m no legal expert, but isn’t posting porn of someone without their consent already covered somewhere in United States Code? Porn sites did quite the purge a few years ago. So I’m wondering what this solves, even if it were worded better.
I’d imagine this will speed up defederation in some cases, but I’ve not run into any such material here.
They’re reaping what they sowed in zero-interest-rate days. Can’t really generate revenue when your user base is used to everything being free.
I don’t know that the story backs up the hed. Nadella’s quotes are your stereotypical shots at shareholders of “hey, if you bought into the hype, that’s your problem, not ours.”
It’s somewhat baffling how one can land at Beehaw while using Chrome. Chrome users should be perfectly happy on Reddit.
Great video, as always. I would suggest PocketTube for Firefox for controlling the chaos of YouTube subscriptions. I don’t see shorts at all, and if I’m not looking for, say, music or Star Trek content, I can just turn those categories off.
The irony that my van is actually appreciating.
While true, that’s another topic of discussion.
Wait till people find out much of it runs north-south through New Mexico, which is part of the U.S., hence having to specify that fact on their license plates, and despite fans of the Terminator franchise having seen the gorge bridge just out of Taos. The bridge over the Rio Grande just south of Colorado.
You want to get me going on rivers? Colorado’s my starting point. How the hell do we have two of those?
Realistically, Reddit has been useless for porn for quite some time.
Inconceivable!
