I agree that Apple should allow standard Bluetooth or wifi-based file sharing and streaming available to all, on its devices. What I disagree with, is the idea that Apple should make t he proprietary optimizations that it created for Airplay and air sharing freely available.

you are correct, they are not, however, Apple‘s optimization and the mechanisms underpinning how those actually function is significantly different and superior to the regular file sharing that you’re describing. I am not making this information up. You can verify this yourself. I can provide some citations if you wish. And yes, I was foolish to post my comment in an android community.

Yeah, I mainly got it as an e-reader to save my eyes. I wanted to put my work email on it too, but I’m having trouble with the security oversight app or whatever it’s called. I just hate giving even one more shred of my info to Google.

Is it worth it?

I’m fairly certain that Ubittorrent messed up my user account on my old Mac, and now I am really leery to start it up on my new Mac. I also have no idea how to go about diagnosing whether I have malware or something, because I have never run into this issue on a Mac before. I also have had trouble setting limits on uploads so all my bandwidth isn’t sucked away, and ChatGPT was not effective with its advice. Usually I leave it running for days on end though, and I also don’t delete.
