My wife just threw out a ~12 hour old fried rice we doggy bagged last night that I was planning on lunching on because we “touched it with our spoons”. Sigh.

Maybe we should be trying less hard to not hurt ourselves. 😝
I stumbled a few months back stepping over a rope that was about fifteen centimeters off the ground and cracked a rib or something. I didn’t even fall, just kinda leaned forward the wrong way a bit. Pain for weeks.

Definitely not as many seeders as they were during it’s heyday, but still a decent number. I’ve downloaded a couple semi-obscure films in the past couple of months and they downloaded just fine in an hour-or-two even with only one seed.
Underwaterbob@lemm.eeto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make itEnglish3·9 months agoI’d like to thank this thread for reminding me to check out some new music. Just today, I have discovered MJ Lenderman and Still House Plants who both seem to be doing some cool stuff that’s right up my alley. There’s a new Mogwai track released a few days back and Sumac just released an amazing sludge metal album, even though I’m not really into sludge, it might convert me. A quick few image searches shows me that none of them are particularly attractive. Music has always been, and always will be awesome regardless of the physical appeal of the lead singers.

I haven’t played a Zelda game since Skyward Sword, and that one really rubbed me the wrong way. Formulaic and dull. I suppose that’s why the next entry made such drastic changes. I might just emulate BotW someday to see what all the fuss is about.

At least I watched the opening cinematic. Not that interested in playing. Just seeing if it was true.

Look up an old newspaper from say 100-120 years ago and check out the obituaries.
I’m taller than most people. I’m always getting a facefull of spider webs. I love spiders, though. Anything that eats mosquitoes gets a pass to mildly inconvenience me now and again.
I also have no clue whether Ethiopians need any rice
The Ethiopian famine was 30 years ago. Not that they haven’t had troubles off-and-on since then.

How do you avoid "hoarding"?English4·1 year agoI only pirate music and books anymore. I do consume it all. Well, most of it. Sometimes I’ll download a series of books and not jive with the first one or something. The music always gets listened to. More than once, too! I’m easy to please. Or I have good taste.

NGL, I miss the second in some circumstances, but I also don’t miss the inclination to have YouTube or Netflix constantly open if I’m not using the second for anything else.

Underwaterbob@lemm.eeto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•It must confuse English learners to hear phrases like, "I'm home", instead of "I am at home." We don't say I'm school, or I'm post office.English2·1 year agoAbsolutely. I’m an ESL teacher in Korea, and getting my students to use prepositions properly is a significant portion of my job. The difference between something like “He is coming to you.” and “He is coming for you.” isn’t obvious at all if you think about it, but there are definitely proper and improper use cases for them.
Underwaterbob@lemm.eeto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•AI nowaday is like Bluetooth 20 years ago: they put it everywhere where it's almost never usefulEnglish22·1 year agoQuite possibly. I don’t think I’ve ever had any Bluetooth device work without hiccups. My old earbuds used to disconnect or lose pairing all the time. A couple of game controllers I have only worked intermittently for years. My phone is always losing connection in our car. I’ve ironed out some of the problems, but I’ve never had Bluetooth just work for me.

Crazy good reflexes and eyesight, amazing jump height, claws that grab hold of tree branches, feathers, and skin very nicely. There are a bunch of strays where I live, and they are murdering machines when they don’t have a bowl of food plopped in front of them twice a day at their leisure.
