I meant it colloquially - like a long time ago - but fair point. More accurately, it was introduced about 100-150 years before there was a linguistic trend for fruit to be called fruit and not apples.

to be fair, that’s a modern take. in antiquity it was so ignoble it was given the generic name for a fruit/vegetable.
a modern version might be more akin to “dirt thing”
There’s also a touring comedy show in the UK, sometimes US or AUS called Friend, from the perspective of coffee shop owner Gunther.
when actually everyone knows engineering is all about being able to negotiate precisely which snacks and soft drinks go in the office break room
while I exhaled through my nose, it seems like the hivemind is against you here
also, from experience, most kinksters are very boring and likely to be neither left nor right but some unknown third thing that is the craziest shit you’ve ever heard.
is latex left wing or right wing? custard pies? smoking? being trod on with stilettos? wearing a diaper?
I don’t think youve thought through what kinks are.
Yep. There’s a maneuver I call “the Atlanta special” which is where you signal in one direction, and slow down a little, and then you floor the accelerator and speed off in the opposite direction to the one you’re indicating.
Bonus points if it’s to get a single car length ahead in slow traffic approaching an already red light.
I see it at least once a week.
Couple of weeks ago I saw it three different times in a single rush hour commute.
kids stole my car
cops gave chase
they crashed the car
ran on foot
cops gave chase
they ran into an abandoned house
cops stopped outside
they walked nonchalantly out of the house
cops did not arrest as they could not be sure it was the same people
literal skyrim npc behavior.
by my count only Jack Black isn’t of some sort of athletic body type
appreciate it thanks, I’ll take a look
yes, I can run docker.
the problem is you can’t take those weaknesses and call it “academic” - it’s a contradiction in terms.
When a real academic makes up answers its a problem, when chatgpt does it its part of the expectation.
That would be good if they did that but that is not the intent of the org, the purpose of the tool, the expected or even available outcome.
It’s important to remember this data is not being scraped to make it available or presentable but to make a machine that echos human authography convincingly more convincingly.
On an extremely simplified level, it doesn’t want to answer 1+1=? with “2”, it wants to appear like a human confidently answering an arithmetic question, even if the exchange is “1+1=?” “yes, 2+3 does equal 9”
Obviously it can handle simple sums, this is an illustrative example
I would love a layman’s guide to NGINX. every guide I come across is filled with unexplained jargon
as a complete layman and hobbyist i also personally think that “more pythonic” coding can sometimes be more confusing.
I dont think any beginner reads “j for j for i in k” and instantly gets it.
maybe unpopular opinion idk
USAA has 8-12 ONLY. My smallest memorized password algorithm is 13 characters, that I typically use for throwaways, doesn’t even fit.
Those European names: the word “Hill” in 3 different languages mashed together
Isn’t the inverse - “I asked x number of black people and they were OK with it” or even “I assume y% number of black people are ok with it” subject to the same criticism?
I am white so we’re probably getting to the edge of propriety in this conversation.
while in some ways I can see your point, I would just have a hard time saying this in a work meeting here in the deep south with black colleagues present
fuck
