I understand and appreciate solidarity against the American government, but I’d like it if we could go back to not waving our colonial flag everywhere.
Sometimes games cause such a strong emotional reaction for me that I genuinely cannot recreate the same feeling. Same with books and movies. I end up feeling nostalgic for when I first discovered it.

Recently I watched an press event with a Canadian politician, who was switching between French and English as we must sometimes. He was talking about a bag of apples (which his colleague was holding) costing a stupid amount of money. He made the mistake of saying a bag of potatoes, which i found fucking hilarious as I speak both languages and understand the mistake. Unfortunately for him, the people criticising him were morons and were like WHY WOULD HE SAY POTATOES IS HE STUPID.

I’m sure there’s deeper takes on this but from my understanding, it’s a mix of things: 1) he convinced them he’s not like other politicians (which is true, he was not a politician at all) and 2) he convinced them he’s the “pull yourself up by the jockstrap” American dream and everyone can be like him - that’s just the typical American lie they’ve been using for decades if not longer. Then sprinkle a little bit of christofacist fear mongering in there and you got some undereducated folks excited to see someone who’ll “fight” for their American dream.

As a Canadian I’m sorry for the Americans but I’m also fucking terrified for what this means for us. We’re already seeing it bleed (pun intended) into our borders and I don’t think I could handle if our politics went further that way. This is gonna affect a whole lot more than Americans.
