They’re actually a pretty cool company- If you sent them an email clarifying their refund policy first, I’m sure they would refund you if it doesn’t do what you need it to.

Mint is not a version of windows.
I’m somewhat familiar with the tech used to display those boards, and I think the most efficient way to remove them would be to pass the image through an AI taught to scrub them out. And I understand how grossly inefficient that is.
The other option would be to get a ‘clean feed’ of the broadcast before the ads get overlaid- while technically this would be relatively easy, contractually it would be difficult, as the event host is paid to put ads in the broadcast. You’d essentially have to pay more than the advertisers do. This will still leave you with the ‘traditional’ ads, the physical signage and stuff written on the turf, etc.
You could potentially pay the stadium to have these removed, and if you bought the teams competing you could remove advertising from jerseys.
If enough people paid for a subscription, there’s the possibility of an ad-free sports league. I shudder to think of the price, though.
Yeah, control the means of production!
Yeah, I get you!
What I’ve done in the past is just buy a few charging boards with an integrated holder. USB/12v input, 3.3/5v regulated output. You can even get ones with solar. Then my circuitry can be independent of the power system.
I have one in theirs, they have one in mine.
Wait, ease of installation? As someone who had to walk away from a semi-homebrew, mildly complicated cloud storage setup recently, that’s not the experience I had. Networks within networks, networks next to networks not talking to each other, mapped volumes, even checking logs is made more complicated by containerising. Sure, I’m a noob, but that only reinforces my point.
I think you are giving an overly simplistic answer, to the point of being misleading.
Stating that you need a VPN for pirating is blatantly false. It’s perfectly possible to pirate without one. You can assume that people are asking if they should have one, but it is helpful to draw the distinction- including the why you believe they should use one. What does a VPN do, how is it helpful, what could happen if they don’t, etc.
Teach people, don’t just give them blind rules.
Is data on when I turn the oven on, and how long I run it for, even worthwhile? Or do you think it’s sniffing out other info from my network?
What I wouldn’t give for a modern N series. Those phones rocked.
Is Docker considered virtualisation?
Thanks. As bare metal is quite a bit more expensive, what would I lose by going to a VPS? I’m assuming Proxmox and Windows, assuming I wanted to go with a Linux VPS. Would there be issues with running Docker containers with the VPS?
Better take a year off, mate.
I put off Factorio for years, because I knew I’d like it a lot. Had some free time in my life recently, so I went for it.
Send help.
In Australia, for example, the earth pin on a 15A plug is taller than a 10. This lets you plug 10A rated extensions and appliances into a 15A capable socket, but not vice versa.
Amperages above that have dedicated plugs, and any available adaptors only go downwards in amperage limit, not upwards.
This of course doesn’t stop people getting creative with a screwdriver, or from creating immense chains of small gauge extensions, but it certainly goes a long way to reducing risk.
I’ve never heard of being able to plug a 15A into a 10A socket. Everywhere I’ve seen them, they are keyed to physically prevent this. What country are you in?
How does RF attenuation affect power safety?
As someone who knows that they know very little about git, this thread makes me think I’m not alone.
I’m interested in why you chose the i5 for the automation, rather than the video server?
I’m no expert, but things like transcoding (or even just re-encoding) take a lot of grunt, which it seems the i5 would be good for.
The i3 would be good for more constant, lower power tasks like automation.
At least, that’s my thoughts, happy to be shown your reasoning…
