Jest aside, I see the point in doing this in cases where the company actually deals with very sensitive stuff, but in terms of average app developing company… meh… Most people are smart enough to know not to share keys and creds, and most people who hang around the ol’ Slack channels for a meme and a laugh really don’t care about said keys or creds.

100% down. My experience with comms security has been such that we were still shitposting on ‘official’ Spam channels with people who had not been employed at that company for months. One of them even slipped up and accidentally dissed one of his former teammates on the project team channel, and that’s when they ejected him from Slack. About 5 months after he quit.

They did love insta-deleting GSuite accounts without switching doc ownerships or transferring associated accounts, effectively annihilating a lot of vital design stuff. Stuff was super-secure after that, I’ll give’em that much!

Not arguing against the genetically inherited traits, even beyond the purely aesthetic/structural ones, like inclinations toward certain ways of processing information, nor do I ignore the fact that they’re not 100% heritable. But even as such, nurture (which I view from the belief that the entire village shapes the person) can generate a completely divergent personality, and the breadth of development is directly proportional to the breadth of exposure samples (at least to my mind).

And let’s not neglect the more practical similarities as well! Different types of flora require differently sized “privacy bubbles,” areas of earth reserved exclusively for their individual sustenance, otherwise they’d essentially choke each other out. We can see something very similar in the development of children who are too closely bound to their family through mechanisms of excessive control, their potential ends up being smothered.

These are a lot of assumptions about a person you don’t know.

As a counterexample, if there were any other substance which could replace vodka and coffee liqueur in their entirety while not containing alcohol, I’d drink Virgin White Russians all day long. Same goes for Jäger. And I have already tried some non-alcoholic gins and they entirely miss the pungency, which is the very element which confers alcohol its unique taste.

No, I genuinely do not like alcohol for its effects. It is not my jam. If I want to enjoy both the buzz and safe dips into my dark place, I smoke a doobie.

As for your argument about music, I think this is the wrong point of comparison. If you’re referring to a strictly emotional reaction, taste has that covered all on its own.

All due respect, I cannot speak for your situation, but neither does your situation for everyone else who likes to sip alcohol.

I cannot stand the taste of cinnamon or licorice, but I don’t believe addiction is required to be able to enjoy them.

This sounds like it starts from the assumption that it can only be consumed for the effect, not the taste.

I drink once, maybe twice every year, and never more than 2-3 drinks. And I specifically either sip a finger of Jägermeister, a White Russian, or expensive gin tonics (Scapegrace is brilliantly rich and nuanced, for instance), because I enjoy the taste.

What I do not enjoy is getting drunk. Not only because the following two days are worse than death, but especially because I don’t like how my body slips out of my control and how it encourages my mind to drift toward the dark place.

Procrastination is a divine trait, then.

This would imply that they’re not surrounded by other pots filled with water which is (varying degrees of) boiling. We don’t really have a Socialist Utopia meeting spot, let’s say.

Beyond that, eloping requires a not insignificant amount of money (as a Romanian, I can say that homes/apartments aren’t cheap here, either, and we’re not exactly L.A.)

And at the other end of the line, immigration’s not exactly thought of with fondness, even in Europe. Don’t forget, we’re stewing in our own pot even if the heat’s still relatively tolerable.
