House and Senate matter far more than the presidency, without them the president has very little influence on policy with exception of veto power.
With 2/3 control, the president wouldn’t even have veto power and would be entirely powerless.
Vote for your congressional representation! This is the one day that the little guys can determine the policy direction of the country.
Because there are more effective forms of protest that don’t guarantee with 99.9% accuracy that a fascist is elected if people vote for an alternate party (literally the case this year with the margins, and “dictator day 1”).
Voting should be pragmatic. There are a million other ways to protest/lobby, but honestly the Democrats of today are far more progressive than 20 years ago, because of people who understand the system and change it from the inside, like AOC/Bernie.

I believe the general consensus is that hooking a smart TV to the Internet is generally a bad idea.
I mean the Vero V seems to be a nice polished experience. It’s just a lot of work to setup a linux box and get it to work, the latter being the hard part. The wiimote and the flirc have some comments in reviews about being poor experiences, and I just want it to be on par with the Roku or it’ll wind up in the trash heap. I don’t mind paying a little bit extra for a finished solution, and it seems like a plus that the Vero is a community/libre project.

I would 100% do this (minus the pirating part) if there was a way to get a tv style remote for the box. That’s the biggest obstacle for me because I’ve never been able to find a PC/tv remote and non technical users will be using the TV.

Airlines overbook almost every flight. That means if you’re not in that line, you have a good chance of getting booted off the flight. It has happened to me a couple times.
They normally give you a voucher to compensate you for the trouble that can be used on a future flight. They will typically try to rebook you (at no cost) the same day if they can arrange it.
Unfortunately opinions do not always match.
If a large group of people do not agree with the direction the Lemmy devs are making, why not get together and create a new site forked off Lemmy’s source code?
It seems like the fediverse is a return to a more liquid internet, similar to the early internet of the 90s. A lack of existing large infrastructure here is actually advantageous for new sites to startup.
To be fair both the US and EU are a federation of states (the latter sharing aspects of a confederation as well 1. In the US all state borders do look like this, so in a way free travel among the ‘independent’ states is allowed the same as in the posters picture.
It actually is more of a hive mind than reddit. A decentralized consciousness.
