  • That user just used the recent ToU as an excuse to drag Mozilla for their activist efforts. Chuds do that, or rather, that’s what chuds do. They find something that’s actually bad, make valid points, and then attach their ideological points to try and trick you into thinking those are valid too. They are not.

    Now, for the real issue at hand: the Terms of Use.

    Mozilla has introduced these ToU for Firefox, which include a rather liberal license to use virtually everything you do in Firefox for whatever they want. Of course, they say that’s not what they’re going to do, but the verbiage is vague enough that a lot of people are concerned. Not to mention, a lot of Firefox users are already privacy-conscious, so this really didn’t sit well with the community. They also changed some of their statements regarding selling user data, basically rolling back their promise never to do that! Concerning, to say the least.

    That’s why Firefox has been getting hate.

    The ToU don’t apply to forks such as Librewolf and Zen (and others), so those are a way to avoid your data being harvested by Mozilla.
