I think what people generally mean when they say programming language (other than just a language to write a program) is that the language is turing complete. Even with this more limited definition, JavaScript, Bash, and Powershell are turing complete and therefore programming languages.

I’ve played Pokemon on and off since it’s release in the 90s, but one of the best Pokemon experiences was that two week period in the summer of 2016 when Pokemon Go came out and everyone was playing it. Weird story, and I have to assume this is data entry error, identity theft, or something else: I couldn’t sign up for a hospital billing platform because my name and full birthdate (including year) conflicted with someone else in the system. I called the hospital billing department and they were very confused about the whole situation. It didn’t really get resolved, and I basically had to let it go to collections so that I could pay because of the shitty system. I don’t have a very common name, and never have had this problem before.

Yeah, I’m unfamiliar with the state of doing encoding with a pi, I have seen that newer models have a dedicated encoder chip for h.264 but I’ve personally never used it. Even with the first model of the raspberry pi, it included a hardware decoder, and was able to run as a media player hooked up to HDMI. I’m assuming OP wants something like that, just a media player for the CRT, and not a full fledged media server which can power everything.
