HMD's Skyline has ended its 2024 on a high note, having been awarded the title of Most Repairable Smartphone of the year on the influential tear-down vlog JerryRigEverything. The Asus ROG Phone 8 and Huawei Mate XT have also made appearances at this online award show, albeit for less upliftingly sustainable reasons.
Do we know how open it is in terms of bootloader, firmware, and whatever else is required for ongoing custom ROM support? Repairability is software as well as hardware!
I did look into this while researching the phone, while still knowing that it is not a practical approach for most people. However, HMD phones are absent from the custom firmware scene.
